The short dance show
It's a part of a festival that happen for years in Israel. Till now - it was a festival of short theater. This year they tried to mix it with short dance. The first night was tonight and will take a part in the next two nights. At least tonight the made it with street' artists outside. At the short dance - 5 different creators made dance parts' as a tribute to another dance issue. Each has her/his solo in one same show. I won't get into all of them cause only one was flamenco (which is all about), but I can tell that the whole idea was interesting. Well, maybe accept one part which I found as boring. The dance's part was in a building which is in normal night made for events (like weddings, birthdays...). In the hall down there was a play, up - the dance. They made a little stage for this show (not the best, but still). The seats weren't signed and each one of the audience took their places as they wanted. I found a place in the first row - almost on stage. A bit after the show has started a fat man sat next to me and almost on me. He pulled out some pieces of paper and a digital camera. He took some photos and made some notes... It was including one dance as a tribute to the buto creator, 2 modern style dancing as modern style, one modern as a tribute to a ballet dancer who counts the best ever, and for desert... The flamenco. Still I can't to ignore the tribute to ballet. I have a respect to ballet and I love modern as well. So - the dancer who made it is Tammy Yzchaky as a tribute to Silvi Guilleme. In all parts it started with a video to show the influence. Looks like the ballet dancer was a great one indeed almost un human with her ability. One part in the video showed that she was the the main dancer in Swan Lake. The tribute was include a lot of sense of humor. No, nothing is wrong with it. She started with rock music and neurotic movements. And a the music stopped. A toy duck went out from the dancer's mouth. A different music has started and she danced with the duck. Later on she made a "funeral" to the duck. Lights off. She got back with a big sack in her mouth, danced with it a bit and opened it. Many more toy' ducks fell on the floor. Lights off again and a very big duck was there. She "went to sleep" on it. I think that this part and the flamenco were the best. The flamenco part made by (amazing) Neta Shezaf as a tribute to Mario Maya. The video part of before was a mix of a bit from Flamenco of Carlos Saura (he took a part there, a great one), an interview with him, showing the horrible treatment to gipsies and a bit more. As a tribute to a special show of Mario Maya called Amargo (by a song of Federico Garcia Lorca. The story is about a man that his name is Amargo who has been told that he can pick up the flowers the 25th June cause he's about to die in two months. - Neta got into the stage and danced with pants. A knife was there all the time in her pants. From time to time in her dance there was a video behind her to show the original thing and the influence she got in the same time. In one part in the video it was possible to see Mario holds a baby's doll and one (woman) dancer dance. Neta was with a skirt on the pants, a baby's doll in her hands and she danced as well. Later on - the skirt went down again for the pants, the baby's doll laid on stage and Neta pulled a death' mask. She was dancing for a while with it. After the mask pulled down as well - the knife pulled out from time to time. In one part there was a video of Mario Maya dance while behind him there is another (man) with a make up of the death. Neta showed her way for it as one dancer in a tribute for the very same part. The death itself - a video and a real show in the same time. The "death" of Mario was there and Mario "fall" slowly and "die". Neta alone - only with the knife out "fall and die" slowly. In some points it looked very different, but in many parts it was easy to see the idea of where is the influence. She was wonderful and the fact she was in the end wasn't only because it's about death. She was like a dessert
