José Fernández Torres, Tomatito, uno de los grandes guitarristas de los últimos tiempos comenzó a tocar de niño en su Almería natal y durante 18 años acompañó a Camarón, formando una de las parejas más emblemáticas de la historia del flamenco. La fórmula del quinteto con la que ahora viene a nuestra ciudad nos ofrece la oportunidad de disfrutar, entre otros, del cante de raíz de Morenito de Íllora y de la savia joven de su hijo, José del Tomate.

Tras la muerte de Camarón, Tomatito continuó su carrera musical y continuó desarrollando su técnica. Entre sus discos figuran Paseo de los castaños (2001), Aguadulce (2004) o Anthology (1998-2008). Sus inquietudes lo llevaron a acercase al jazz y a colaborar y grabar discos con figuras como Michel Camilo, o más recientemente a grabar con orquesta una aplaudida versión de El concierto de Aranjuez.

The 7th October has started with an entrance of some terrorists from Hamas to Israel.
Lots of death and hostages, including kids, women and adult citizens who were at their homes or at a party. It started a war here. Some of the hostages has got back home, but some are still there.

A fresh start

 That's it. I had my first class at the studio of Mijal Ben Zvi. That will be my new studio to learn, at least at the next few months. As it looks like - maybe even more. Still not many at class, but I guess it's because of a new start since the war has started here. I rather have a wooden floor, but the biggest problem that I had - it wasn't a wooden floor. It's a bit difficult for me to get use to a new teacher in a new studio, still looks like I will get use fast this time. The class felt like fun and finnished too fast for me. My first dance at the new studio: a guajira. I love guajiras! I have few at my favorites, guajira is one of my favorites without a doubt.

Las cuerdas del piano, las cuerdas de la guitarra, las cuerdas de la voz, los tendones del cuerpo.
Cuerdas que dan movimiento, que emiten sonidos, que crean músicas y que cuentan historias.
De un lado o de otro, desatando o apretando más fuerte, una cuerda salvadora o el nudo que acaba con una vida.
En este contexto, los intérpretes nos llevan por un mundo de opuestos y antagónicos: la guerra y la paz, la vejez y la juventud, vida y muerte, el amor y el odio.
En un mundo de opuestos y continuos cambios,
Si la mayor locura es creerse cuerdo ¿De qué lado de la cuerda estamos?.
