Fin la fiesta

This year I had my end of year show, after years without it. Still with the studio of Mijal Ben Zvi. Ilai Burla was palying, Miriam Levy was sining. Two groups of women were dancing, Mijal was dancing too. Few hours before it happened, a bit before I had to go out for last rehearsal and the show itself - the girls from the group said that maybe we'll buy some flowers to Mijal, Ilai and Miriam. Long story, lots of mess. In the end I was buying from all of us in the group for three of them, and it wasn't enough. One more was buying another bouquet for Mijal. And those are the bouquets that I was buying:

When I got there it was a mess to find out where do we do our rehearsal. And where to put the bouquets it will stay a surprise to the end. We had a rehearsal that helped me be more Self-confidence, but I was so tired and wanted to be after all of it. After that to change and to another studio for chainging, keeping our stuff and all that jazz. We had some photos together, with phones, but in the end we found out that will be a photographer, so probably soon we'll have some pro photos as well. Also in the back stage/studio. I had a selfie:

Checking the stage, the sound and view looked like this:

I wasn't the only one without any guest. Another woman from the other group also was this way.

The show itself has started with a solea por buleria that my group had last year, but we couldn't perform with it because of war. Not all were dancing. We didn't practice it a lot in classes this year, I couldn't practice enough alone and I didn't remember it enough. I gave up because of it, although I think it was a beautiful dance. Another one was choosing not to because too difficult for her two dances (and this year - even one was difficult. She was sittling many times in classes).

Mijal also was dancing, in the end two solos.

The other group was dancing one dance. Our alegria of this year was later on. Although it's the most difficult palo for me (it's possible that it's mental) - I made it. I even made it to dance alegria with a smile on stage. No one was coming to see me, I was affraid and still I was smiling for the audience of others.

We had a short part of tangos for the end. All of us made it, Mijal and two groups. My group didn't practice enough, and still we made it. And the moment with the flowers. Mijal told us that she doesn't want fin la fiest this time. Well.. On stage she asked whoever can dance fin la fiesta can come. We made fin la fiesta. I was brave enough to dance first. The lazy one was after me. One of the guests was dancing and looked she wants to make some impression, even too much. One of the woman from my group accepted to dance with one of her guests. And Mijal was dancing.

Lots of stress went down. Got back very late. A bus and lots of traffic...

After watching Ada

Well... Días de Flamenco is normally at the spring. As far as was another war - it almost cancelled this year. Adi Agmon Foundation which produce this festival decided that it must goes on at a different date. So it's during July. Instead of 3 days - this time it's 5. Instead of all of it will be at Suzanne Dallal Center, Tel Aviv as it's always - a part of it is still there, some at Jaffa. And this time without any dancer from Spain. At the original date for the festival this year - meant to be a premier of a new show. A show called "Ada" of Hadas Nestel. It's still took a part of the festival, still the premier - few months later. This year - this is the show that I went to see. It took a part at Suzanne Dallal Center. I was a little surprise to see it has some renovations at the main building. The show meant for a small hall in a different building. And the photos up are the way I found it. The next thing that was a little disturbing (I mean it made me jealous) - there were 3 photographers working there. I guess that one was for video (and it leass disturbing). . I just came to watch....  At the audience and proudction I met some people that I know. Most I was happy to see. With one of them who was working as a stage manager is someone that I knew a long time ago.  I was surprised that she was happy to see me till a hug, but I like surprises like this. One person that I know came a moment before the show meant to start. We looked at each other, a little smile and she ran to her seat. I guess that she knows that was the maximum kindness that I can give her now (and even that took a year from my life).

Ada:

Idea, choreography and dance: Hadas Nestel
Guitar: Ilai Burla
Singers: Ofir Atar and Miriam Levy
Percussion: Nissan Reuven

Sorry that I get into it, but it took some time till doors openning, it took some time till all audience got in, the show has started in 20 minutes late. And even than there was a couple who got in after the show has started.  Near the stage there was a lamp that I noticed that it isn't a refular one of stage, but... Till the end I forgot about it. Most of flamenco shows starts with sad and "heavy" beats and become happier. Here is went reverse. All musicinas on stage, Hadas was wearing a red bata dress and had a yellow manton. She was sitting next to a little table with anoth lamp which looked like a backstage. A moment that the music has started slowly and Hadas just warmed up. After a moment if went out for pure happy flamenco. Sorry, with all other details that I remember... So it was a happy one with a bata, most of time with a manton. The manton stayed on stage till the end of the show. A part of the audience couldn't let the musicians do the palmas at some of the moments. Too much noise from the audience.

There was a musical part which Miriam Levy was the lead singer, but not the only one. After the musicians finnished this part - they went out of stage.

Hadas got back to stage. She was wearing couple of flamenco shoes, but with clothes which looks ordinaly. And a bag. A little bit recorded music. And lots of Hadas voice at the reorded sounds. The flamenco shoes went down. A part that looked like fringe theater that became some modern dance. It finnied after Ilai got back to stage and got back playing. The other musicians joined for another short part of music.

The next thing - Nissan Reuven stayed, the other musicians went out again. Hadas got back with another red dress. And a cajon. It became a duet of cajons. After a while - the door of the hall has been opened. It freaked me out. But a moment after - the ushers took out a fainted woman who was at the audience. Another woman went out with her.

When all musicians were again on stage - a solea. I won't make a spoiler, but when it finnished there was another moment that looked like a fringe theater. And for the end - a siguiryia. It finnished with a moment of dance without music. And the only light from the lamp next to stage. Hadas took it.

One of those nights

After too long without watching any live flamenco... After the war I got back dancing at classes, but too long that I didn't see. I found out about a tablao of Mijal Ben Zvi at Jaffa. Although it's a tablao of Mijal - she wasn't the only dancer. The dancers were Mijal Ben Zvi and Yael Tuchfeld. The guitar plauer was Ilai Burla. The singers were Shuky Shveiky and Miriam Levy. Well, I missed watching, this time I could. Although it's pretty close to Tel Aviv, although it's really close to the studio of Mijal - it was difficult this time to get there. The traffic on the way made it almost an hour and a half till I went out from the bus. I came a moment after the doors' opening. The next thing weird - I came without my camera. I have been in this hall once, long time ago. I remembered it's isn't very easy to see all on stage, and no signed seatting places. And if I came with the camera - it wasn't for money. Near the door I saw outside two women that I know and dislike, they looked at me and accept that - I igonred them and they ignored me. Came another woman later on that I know a bit (she takes another class at the studio of Mijal). After lights on stage - came a woman who I like but always late. I couldn't find a place near stage, even that I came early. Even if I came with the camera - it couldn't be easy.

The show itself was music alone, a dance, music, dance... It has started with music while Shuky was the main singer. First dance was an alegria which danced both by Mijal and Yael. At this part - many took photos and vidoes with the phones. Because it's a place like this and others did it - I let myself also to take few photos with the phone. This is one (and I apologize on the quality):

A music brake before Yael danced a solea. Mijal was a palmera at this part. When it the finale of the dance - I heard someone at the audience asking if there is more. I guess it's someone who didn't see lots of flamenco in her life. One more music brake before Mijal danced a taranto. Yael became the palmera. After that - the bow down. I was surprised it's over cause it felt so fast, altough the solo  dances were long. Yael said that if someone want to come to the fin la fiesta is invited. I didn't think of being the first to come. Yael said that she's sure that there are some flamencos at the audience. OK, I stood up and came to the satge, next to Yael. Three more women came from the audience, one of them with a broken arm (she didn't dance). Ilai started to play, Shuky has started to sing. I want to dance, but I wasn't sure that I'm brave enough to be the first one. I guess that I was wrong, cause Yael has started to cheer me up. I was the first to dance at the fin la fiesta... !!!! One more woman who came from the audience danced, but Mirian was sining at this part. The one with the broken arm was just for being there, the last one received some whispers from Yael, but she didn't accept to dance. Shuky danced. For the end Mijal and Yael were dancing together again. It was a bit weird that I didn't stay to talk, but... All were weird and I had a but to catch to be back home
