Flamenco begeistert längst nicht nur Liebhaber auf und jenseits der iberischen Halbinsel – auch auf den Bühnen Spaniens und anderer Länder beweisen Künstler aus aller Welt, dass sie die Magie des „duende“ besitzen. Sie leben den Flamenco mit Seele, Leidenschaft und Können. Mestizo Flamenco besticht genau durch dieses Spektrum der Interpretationen und das Zusammenspiel seiner internationalen Besetzung.
Die Tänzerinnen Migiwa Shimizu (Japan) und Nanako Aramaki (Kanada) sind beide in Japan geboren – nach Spanien die größte Hochburg des Flamencos weltweit. Die Liebe für den Flamenco entdeckte Migiwa in ihrer Wahlheimat Deutschland, Nanako als Jugendliche in Vancouver, Kanada. Die beiden Tänzerinnen ergänzen sich durch ihre unterschiedlichen Stile – Nanakos Eleganz und Präzision treffen auf Migiwas Emotionalität und einzigartigen Ausdruck. Sie werden begleitet und getragen von den Klängen der Gitarristen Zamná Urista Rojas (Mexiko) und Johannes „Josel“ Ratsch (Deutschland). Nicht zuletzt durch den Gesang der Spanier José Ramirez und Enrique Correa mischt und verbindet Mestizo Flamenco seine Flamenco-Reise über die Kontinente stets wieder mit dem Ursprungsland dieser so faszinierenden und mitreißenden wie komplexen Kunstform.

She has collaborated on stage with many top Flamenco performers such as Ramón Martínez, El Torombo, Juan Ogalla and Pedro Sierra. Fiona received her training and formation as a dancer in Seville, Spain under the mentorship of Farruquito, Concha Vargas and Isabel Bayón, among others. Fiona began choreographing new works for the stage in 2001 and most recently toured "Eclipse” (Vancouver International Flamenco Festival, 2012). Noted past performances include the Alcázar palaces of Jerez de la Frontera and Seville, Spain and various other International Flamenco Festivals, where she has opened for esteemed dancers such as Rubén Olmo and Manuel Liñan. She is very active performing in Southern Spain with her ensemble and upcoming performances include Peña Flamenca Enrique el Mellizo in Cádiz. Rooted in the tradition of flamenco, the ensemble blends world-music, rhythms and unique instrumentation such as the Hang drum. Their performances have recently led to consecutive sold-out concerts in Spain. |

Spanish flamenco star Maria Serrano catapults Prosper Mérimée’s story and Georges Bizet’s music into modern day, staging the fiery gypsy tale in a Seville pounded by the financial crisis. Fourteen world-class musicians and dancers convey a daring, dangerous world suffused with passion, pride and jealousy; Serrano performs the role of a lifetime as a doomed heroine caught between two men and a desire for freedom above all else.
La star espagnole du flamenco, Maria Serrano, transporte l’histoire de Prosper Mérimée et la musique de Georges Bizet dans l’époque moderne, mettant en scène cet ardent conte gitan dans une Séville frappée par la crise économique. Quatorze musiciens et danseurs de niveau international dépeignent un monde dangereux fait de passion, d’orgueil et de jalousie. Maria Serrano offre la performance d’une vie dans le rôle de l’héroïne déchirée entre deux hommes, mais d’abord et avant tout éprise de liberté.
