Tientos with the trio
This evening was workshop of tientos that gave Shuky Shveiky, Adva Yermiyahu and Idit Suslik. With all my years - I knew what's palo, but I never really learned it. I was happy to go there for learning something new, accept the fact I know I like the way they do it. But... One leg still hurts. And when I came to the bus stop - a thing made my clean shirt to dirty. It's better I won't get into details. I came hysterical cause I felt dirty and couldn't change the shirt. Still looked like that others noticed only after I said that that my shirt was blue when I came out my house... Maayan Doari who didn't take a part there till now - was there this evening and kinda smiled from the "it was a blue shirt". The secretary got stress as I did and offered a cup of water. I have, thanks...
The girls I know through Facebook didn't come this time. A weirdo that didn't know anyone and no one knew him came. He felt needed to ask ME where to sit. After that Idit needed to tell him the same thing. So far - with some of the girls that come to dance there as an ordinary thing as I do I started already to have some conversations before. I didn't get by surprise that talks has started. Two new ones came and one of them was disturbed by the fact she knows no one accept the friend she came with. I wasn't sure if the guitar players even noticed me till now. One of them did for sure. It took me a moment or two to understand that he try to talk with me when he said "hello". The weirdo learn in the music school that this workshops goes. He sings and he's been told that there are flamenco classes, so he came. Maayan said that he came to dance. Later on I could see it was a joke.
We've been waiting to those who came late, accept one who came a bit after it started. It started with a lecture of Idit about tientos. We heard a bit the sinning of Antonio Chacón and Niña de los Peines. Later on Shuky sang and played for us. One of the ordinary girls didn't stop to ask, even in the middle. It was also a learning about the difference between tientos and tangos, and between now days tientos and the way tientos were in the start. Natasha Shakhnes was there as a student and started to take some photos. As I get to know her - I don't like all that she do, but I do love her photos, so... I guess that photos from this evening which has taken by a talented photographer will come. And a video of Pastora Galvan. It looks like it had to come.
And we learned the palmas of tientos and tree letras. The questions still went on. The weirdo looked bored.
A brake. While changing the shoes - the one who ask all the time asked me if I learn somewhere ordinary. I told her that I do learn from Neta. Oh, Neta shezaf? Yeah... I don't know any other Neta who teach flamenco! So she asked about Einat Schacham and doesn't she from there. Yep, she is. Natasha had to say something about it and didn't really believe that Einat learned from Neta or dance in her company.
The class goes on. Although it was my first time with tientos - it felt natural. I guess that accept buleria and guajira - I'm a person of jondo. Few times I did miss, but it wasn't too dramatic. Maayan stayed with us, but didn't dance. He made us palmas. Adva asked him about his cajon. He did bring it. So - Adva asked him to take his cajon and play to us. He did. It was fun to try a new palo with listening to the cajon.
Shuky and Idit who went to another room with the guitar players got back. All came back accept the weirdo who came to sing. But there was a woman that I didn't know and took aside some of my things. After a little more practice - we danced to the guitar players, Shuky, Idit and the stranger. All together. A bit before it moved to solos - another girl I don't know (but looked familiar) came in to watch. I said I don't want to make a solo. Two or three others made. Adva didn't want to give up for me so fast this time. She said we'll dance together cause she wants to dance again. I accepted. Meanwhile - more people came, probably the kind of "I heard some music and wanted to see where it comes from".
It moved to:
- I started this year to learn to dance alone
- Great, so you can make it
- It doesn't mean I'm not afraid to do it alone
- Do you want me to stand next to you?
- No! Dance with me!
So she started dancing with me, but after few steps she let me dance alone. Few time just telling me what's wrong (I made it a bit too fast in the start), let me know what's gonna happen for I won't miss... Did I forget anything? Yeah, I was afraid, so I forgot a bit. I missed few steps. I made a try to listen without to look. It didn't really worked out. I was too much in my fear that I'm not sure that I really listened to the music. Few times I saw the looks of Idit and the strangers who stood next to her. In the end - Adva said it was good. I don't believe it. I made a face to show my un accepting it was good. I saw Idit smiles a moment after.
Two or three more. Nobody made it perfect.
End of class. The stranger who sat there all the second part is an opera singer who will have a show with Shuky. I told Adva she start to scare me. She didn't like it and asked why. I said that I'm still afraid to dance alone and it was my first time this evening that I danced tientos. First time? Adva said that for the first time it was excellent and wish that she could dance this way in the first time. Excellent? I don't think so... I forgot some steps from the fear......
