After watching AguaDulce

I went to see AguaDulce - the new show of Compas Company. And as far as all must happen - I will tell as much as I can.

I received a ride, at least as much as it was possible to get from someone who didn't come to the show and for the changes at Shabazy Street (where is Suzanne Dellal). Recently I have some dramas with nylons and I wanted to wear a dress. Once nylons got giant "trains" at the moment I was pulling it up. I changed nylons. It felt weird. One more little "train". Fine, small enough for no one notice accept me. No time to change the rest anyway. So, at Shabazy Street a part of the road is blocked for cars. Most of the street I went by foot (on heels, of course!). When I got into the entrance of Suzanne Dellal I didn't stop. I have no much time and I need to collect my ticket and see what else. When I almost got into the building itself for the the tickets part I heard someone is calling a little behind me "Orna, where are you running to?". It was Ilan. He told me that he won't come. but he did. He was with someone who I don;t know (?) and someone who I know a bit through Dias de Flamenco, but she do her best to think each time that it's the first time that she sees me. He got his ticket and not in a good place. I ran to collect my ticket. Keren was there, of course. While she was giving me the ticket she asked me if I already paid for it. I did... At the tablao I gave to her the money! She said that she remembered something like this but she didn't remember where is the money. Probably at... Whatever. I took the program as well and  gave it Ilan for he will keep it for me for a moment. I went for the loo. When I was trying to wash my hands - a oman who I don't know told me that I have a "train" on my nylons. A big one. Over all the height. Over my right leg. Rude. Only Israelis can say things like this to people they don't know. Only Israelis can say it in a place like this. I'm an Israeli and can't get used to this rudeness. Ilan gave the program to the woman from Dias de Flamenco, but he brought it back to me. One of the men from Mijal's company (Compas Company) who doesn't take a part at the show (at least second show which includes only the girls and people from "outside") was there and was talking with Ilan. We all got in. There were some more girls from the studio. Ilan came with another one, each at another part of the hall, both in a bad place. He asked me where do I sit. Third row... He asked me if there is any closer to the stage than that. Yes. On the stage itself. I still amazed from some other people who receive some good places. Some of them seem like they have no idea where did they come. Behind me were few old people (at least at the age of my parents), most were women, A moment before the show has started - a man between them told them to notice that the name of the dance company is Agua Dulce - sweet water. I'm thrilled that he understand few words in Spanish, but is he for real? Doesn't he know it's the name of the show? Some of the women behind me hardly stopped to talk, no matter that there are dancers on stage. One of them was really behind me and she was talking the most and loud. Amazing... She probably doesn't know that she go to a coffee shop for talking. Probably a teacher.

On the way up to the hall there is a room that they usually keep closed. This time it was open. It was full on photos of Compas Company with Kirill. The photos has been taken at the rehearsals for Quince, the last production of them before this one. It included also photos which has been taken at the show itself and some classes before the show. At the studio's photos from classes it's possible to see two dancers who were at the company but they didn't take a part at this show. They are not really at the company now accept once in a while when it;s an older production. One lives in Spain now most of the time, the other one pretty stopped dancing. Now she got back dancing a bit at the studio.

And for the show itself....:

So, as far as it's Mijal's company - she was there on stage. Of course. The girls of Compas Company, but most of them. This time were Ayelet Shachar, Moran Ron, Vlada Vest and Hadas Nestel. As far as this time it was for showing the flamenco parts that have influence from Latin America - they were two tango dancers. I mean to the real tango from Argentina, not the salon dances. Those dancers are Ronen Khayat and Maya Schwartz. As long as it wasn't tango - it was live music. On the guitar and musical production - Yehiel Hason. The singer that perform with them is Yanna Esperanza Mirabal Rodriguez. She isn't a typical flamenco singer, but I will get into it in a moment.

The only scenery - two chairs that looks like fun. And a some kind of a window behind. That was on the edge of stage. Next to it was a microphone which was fit for people will stand next to it. For a start all came for a moment to stage like meeting. All got down from stage after a moment. All accept Yehiel. He took his guitar and started to play a guajira. He had some time for a solo till Yanna joined him. She sat next to him at the other chair and started to sing. So, she isn't a typical flamenco singer, but she has a voice.... Amazing voice! With a voice like this she have no choice - sinning is made for her, and she do it with a lot of talent. It was the first time I heard her sings. It took me a short moment to know that I love her. I mean - at least her sinning. So, after a bit of sinning - Ayelet, Moran and Vlada got back to stage. Moran and Vlada were standing next to Yanna, behind the microphone. They were the palmeras. Ayelet was dancing. No bata on her, but she had few steps that fit using bata de cola. And she had a fan. A big part of the song was letras that I know and adore of guajira. near the end it was something new to me. I saw Ayelet dance many times before, but never saw her do a guajira. Oh, I should have notice it without this show - guajira fits so well to her movement! Again to Yanna - she isn't a typical flamenco singer cause she doesn't do it much. By the things I heard of her - I'm not sure that she did it till now. It didn't disturb her to sound professional like she do flamenco all her life. One thing discovered that she doesn't do it much, not in shows with dancers. I was amazed from the movement of Ayelet, so it took me some time to notice what Yanna did. At the salida Ayelet got closer to the musicians, Moran and Vlada. At this moment I saw that Yanna doesn't behave like flamenco musicians at shows with dancers. Musicians always look at the dancers for they will be working together on the best way. Yehiel did it all the show. Yanna didn't. She was do into the sinning that she didn't look at Ayelet. She hardly looked at the dancers when I was looking at her. The guajira finished with some kind of respond of Vlada and Moran to Ayelet. They some moved to her and she was dancing to them. And they finished with one hand clap that three of them did togeter and a similar standing. I couldn't see Ayelet's face, but Vlada and Moran made funny faces.

A tango part. Ronen and Maya got into stage. The girls got down. This time it was a recorded music, but Yehiel and Yanna were still sitting there. So, I understand less in tango, so it will be a bit difficult for me to say what was there. I can say that it looked beautiful as well. It was a bit weird for me to see the dress that she was wearing, probably because I'm so used to the big flamenco flamenco dresses. At flamenco it still looks sexy - even without showing much. The dress Maya was wearing was mostly green. And a bit of fabric behind that looks like a part of her skin. OK, no matter how much the dress was showing real skin - it looked sexy from time to time because of the movement of both dancers.

Next part - the live music got back. Moran got back to stage. She brought a chair with her. She was putting it in the middle of the stage. She took off one shoe. She sat down and took off the other shoe. She didn't start dancing at the first moment. Yehiel was playing and Yanna was sinning. After a while Moran started to stretch and move. She kicked her shoes by sitting. I didn't see it coming... I never saw a thing like this in a flamenco show.... And all that she wearing now was a dress which doesn't look flamenco. After that she was really dancing bare foot. At the start she was still sitting, but she was dancing. Although the shoes off - that moment looked flamenco. And she stood up on the chair and kept dancing. This part looked like modern style. The other girls of the came back to stage. They stood in a line a bit before her without hiding her. None of them was wearing a regular dress of flamenco. Three of them were dressed like Moran - dresses, but not the flamenco style. And they stayed in their very real flamenco shoes. They were dancing real flamenco all this part in their flamenco shoes and non regular dresses. From time to time Moran joined them. Some parts she was dancing like them while the only difference is that the others were wearing their shoes. At other parts she was dancing with them but was dancing something else. From time to time she got back to sit on her chair. She was dancing by sitting a bit, she stood on the chair a bit more and kept dancing. She was moving between flamenco without shoes and between modern style dancing. The other girls didn't leave the flamenco for a moment. At the middle of dance I noticed that Mijal was there too on stage. She was standing there next to the musicians and made the palmas. As far as I know her - I noticed that she looked tense like she noticed something wrong. She looked a lot at Moran. The tense didn't leave Mijal's face. I looked at the girls and made a try to figure out what's wrong. Well, it did look different but it's a part of show. Mijal still looked tense. I looked harder for I could figure out what's wrong. So it isn't all flamenco, but it looked perfect. I couldn't understand it. The girls finished their part. By the way Yanna left the stage with them. Moran took on her shoes again. She took the chair. She left the stage with Mijal. And there was the only mistake I noticed all the show - I heard from the backstage "where is...?". Oh, that was the problem?

Vlada got back to stage. She was dancing a colombiana. She was dancing it with a hat. Again - clothes that doesn't look like flamenco. The dance itself - very pure flamenco. Vlada proved again how much talent she have. She was great. At the start she was flirting a bit with the audience. She had a moment she trough up her hat and cached it again, And all her moves... A real dancer. And all with a lot of humour. At the salida she was close to one edge of stage - the far from the musicians' place. Yanna got back to stage from the other side with her own microphone. She started to come to Vlada while she was sinning. Ayelet was after her. She was playing at castanets. After two of them came Hadas. She was playing another thing. I don't know it's name but it's from Lating America. They stopped next  to Vlada who was very close to go out from stage. Four of them were standing there. Yanna was still sinning. Ayelet and Hadas was playing from time to time. Three dancers stand there next to a singer, three of them gave a lot of attention to the singer. It looked so funny and so like a theatre. One of the moments that remind me one of my reasons to love flamenco. And they went out.

First solo of Mijal at this show. She was wearing a white dress. The catch at this part - she was holding a little flowerpot at each hand. She still made it very flamenco, includes the hands, but instead of fingers' work - flowerpots... Now that... I love it! From time to time it was possible to see the tango dancers behind.

Next part was of the four girls from the company. Although it was flamenco - the music wasn't live at this part. Again - no regular flamenco dresses but real flamenco. The colours and patterns on their dresses remind me the Indians. Loved the idea. And of course - four of them are wonderful. After a while - Hadas went away. The other three finished by lying on the stage in a line. Moran was the closest to the audience, Vlada behind her and Ayelet at the end. There was a little light over them. Hadas got back to stage. She stood for a moment behind them. After a moment - she went to the front of stage while taking up her feet for she won't step on the girls. They  went away one by one and left Hadas alone on stage. The lights got back to all over stage. Hadas had her solo. At the moment she finished - all group had a part. Although I saw it just now - it probably the part which made the less impression on me. All was good, but this part I can't really remember...

Next part. Ronen Made a solo part. Now behind at the edge of stage was a dress. As far as I don't see much tango - I didn't know that it's possible to dance it alone. Ronen did it. It was interesting to see it. After a while he took the dress and danced with it like has a woman who dance with him. Few steps remind me movements of flamenco when a dancer is wearing a bata. The dress itself is almost like this. And he stopped. He held the dress like hugging someone. Mijal got back to stage. She was wearing a similar dress. She was standing pretty net to the musicians' place. Her standing was a flamenco and he was dancing tango, but it was clear. A moment after - Maya got back to stage and stood behind Ronen, She looked a bit on Mijal and more on Ronen. Mijal left the stage. Ronen took back the dress for the place he took it. Now it was a tango dance for two dancers. The girls from the company got back to stage. After that it was a duet, not only for two. It was a duet between flamenco and tango, a couple who dance tango and four other dancers who gave the flamenco answer. From time to time the tango was on stage, most of time the flamenco. And the tango couple got back to stage and danced between them. A milonga of tango and milonga flamenca.

One more solo to Mijal. She also was dancing a milonga. The musicians got back to stage for her. This part was short and beautiful.

Moving over to rumba. But this part was mostly to show all the dancers. Each one got back to stage, one by one. Each one was wearing something from another part of the show. The girls of the company - each one the same dress each one was wearing at her solo part. Each one of the dancers made few steps and made a bow down. When all were on stage again = the got closer to the edge that close to the audience. Yehiel took his guitar, but it was harder to hear his playing, Electricity. Yanna had her microphone. She was sinning. Again - each one made a bow down. When all made their bow downs - Mijal took the microphone, She and her company were sinning now while Yanna was dancing a bit. And all for another bow down. Keren gave all flowerpots. The woman from Dias de Flamenco gave Mijal another flowerpot. Another bowdown. And a salida.

At the way out I was meeting Kirill by chance. I was talking with him. After going out - he was waiting, but he opened the door for me. The door for dressing rooms. I was hugging with Mijal and talked with her. After that I went to talk with the girls. On the way I noticed Ronen and Maya go out. I told them that I liked what they did. I usually don't see this kind of dance, but they made me a will to see some more. Maya was thrilled for a moment. Ronen said it's better to learn it. They both told me it's possible and I should. OK, I loved their dance, but let's not get too far now. Maybe in the future. I started talking with the girls. And I've been asked to take a photo of all. Or some photos. I've been given a phone for that. Mijal and Yehiel weren't there. The man from Mijal's company came and received another phone. He's been asked to take some photos as well. After some - Yehiel joined for some photos.

I went out. Ilan was there with my "dear" friend and the "ballerina". Two of you as well? Ilan asked me I was there. They have been waiting. Although My friend had her time to say how bas is Mijal - now she agreed it was a very unique beautiful show. She just didn't like the dresses. And she was standing in a way that it was difficult for me to join them. Ilan said that some people get in. It's true, I wasn't the only one. Although people do it and he knows all of them - he rather wait outside. My friend said that she won't get in cause it isn't right that all would come in. I told them that I just got out. My "dear" friend was close to "wash" me for that. I said that Kirill let me it. She didn't understand. Kirill let me in... Kirill let me in... He's a dancer and he took a part at previous shows of Compas Company. My friend said it still isn't right to let anyone get in. I said that he knows me (true), all knows me (almost true...there are few who still don't). Some others were waiting outside. Ayelet and Hadas got out. Ayelet has a small size, Ilan is very tall and very strong. He hugged Ayelet for a moment like a normal person, a moment after he held her in a way Ayelet had her feet in the air. That's a shame I didn't take a photo of it... We still were waiting. Until all got out - Ilan started with my friend. I said something mean about it. He hugged her as well. He said that she's the rides' service. I said that not for me. He said it again and again. And few more things. Not for me... She said that she also advice. I rather that she won't advice me... She asked for a photo. I've been asked to take a photo. She gave me her phone. I took a couple and said that I do it only I get my own photos as well. She didn't like the photos and asked for more in another angel. Another couple. And my turn to have my photos with Ilan. By the way I've been asked to sit on a bar chair that was there. OK, as long and I short, the chair is high and I'm about to have a photo with Ilan....My friend said that I look like Janis Joplin. I told her that she isn't the first to say it and I take it as a complement. She said it meant to be. She took a photo. Ilan was afraid to touch me from a weird reason, or at least it looked this way. A moment after the complement - my friend said that at the way I was sitting I look like the house keeper. So typical... OK, one more photo. This time Ilan another place behind me. I made a different move and let myself lean over him. This time he got closer. After watching the photos - they said that the first photo was better and the "house keeper" looks good on me. Mijal got out. Ilan went to talk with her, but many made this try. I just sent the photos from my friend's phone to my e-mail. She have an old one that I don't use any longer.

A bit after that I was talking with Ilan. I needed to go back home. I asked Ilan if he's afraid of me. He said that he isn't. Good. Only when I ask to meet him outside the studio - he should be afraid. Very afraid. We were talking that we may do it soon. I got back home. Well. after walking all the way back home, after having a scarf over my neck and hair down - it was nice to come back home. I could come back to T shirt and jeans, take off my scraf and pull up before tking my dog out and writing about the show. And all around.

And here are my new photos with Ilan - a bit after the show
