Chico and Rita
I saw an animated movie in the cinemateque of Tel Aviv. The movie called "Chico And Rita" (Spain/England 2010). It's a great movie for flamenco and jazz lovers. The beggining is in the end of the '40. It's about a young tallented pianist from Havana who's in his way up. He meets a beautiful singer. They start to work together and fall inlove. Their love is full in problems and she leaves him to New York City with an American lover/maneger and become a star. He goes their and get to play with some great jazz players who where those times. The story isn't real, but some jazz players they put in the movie are real, and not only. For the flamenco lovers of course there is a place in a way. For a start: the amazing musician who responsble for the music in the movie and made the voice of Chico is well known to lovers of Coban jazz and flamenco lovers. He's not else then Bebo Váldez. He's a Cuban Jazz pianist who worked with Diego El Cigala. And like this isn't enough - most of movie comes in flashbacks and ends in now days. The pianist is old and didn't play for years. He thinks he won't play again and won't see his love. Someone changes back the musical part in his life and gives him the power to look again for his old love - Esterlla Morente
